Microsoft Outlook Setup

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook to work with your E-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2003, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft Outlook. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial. If you would like phone support please call the office @ 510-276-9902.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook

  • In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.

  • On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "Add a new E-mail account" and click Next.

  • For your server type, select "POP3" and click Next.

  1. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter your information as follows:

    Your Name

    Enter your first and last name.

    E-mail Address

    Enter your E-mail address.

    User Name

    Enter your E-mail address, again.

    Password

    Enter the password you set up for your E-mail account.

    Incoming mail server (POP3)

    Enter mail.YourDomainName (example: mail.kowebhosting.com) for your incoming mail server.

    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

    Enter mail.YourDomainName (example: mail.kowebhosting.com) for your outgoing mail server.

    Click "More Settings."

  2. First we want to click on the "Outgoing Server" tab and click the check box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".

  3. Below that we want to make sure that the radio button "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.

  4. Then we will move over and select the "Advanced" tab and change the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" port to 587. Also in the delivery area you will want to check the "Leave a copy of messages on the server" check box.

  5. Also check the "Remove from server after..." check box and insert 5 days in to the input box.

  6. Select the "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'"

  7. Click OK.
    Test E-mail Account

  1. Click Next.

  2. Click Finish.
